As seen from last year's diary, Dad is adept at the Sony PSP

We gave Dad a digital camera

Dad kept the camera in his jacket inside pocket and kept whipping it out at strange moments. Since they don't have a computer we will have to wait till we go back in May to discover what photos have got saved up on the memory card.

Jenny and I also bought a new camera - a Nikon with a whopping optical zoom. See the cow above? Zoom... See the cow below.

Everything is done by hand and built on site in China.

Mud brick; satellite dish.

This cousin (lives a few miles away) has a courtyard between the kitchen and the rest of the house, with a well in it.

Xiao Yezi fascinated by laptop technology and George showing the silly things you can do with a picture of her and some photoshop tools.

This woman looking after her cows in the field was engaged in a shouty conversation on her mobile phone the whole time.

Lifeline to the outside world... Gmail via CDMA wireless internet!

Eclectic building styles in Zhuzhou city. Look closely and try to count how many distinct failed building projects you can see in this picture.
